The 2025 National Outstanding Graduate Students Summer Camp, jointly organized by the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering (PKU) and the School of Chemical Biology and Biotechnology (PKU Shenzhen), includes the first stage of the 18th Summer Cam

To facilitate exchanges and interactions among outstanding university students and stimulate young students' interest in scientific research, as well as to select talented individuals for China's new drug research and development, the School of Chemical Biology and Biotechnology at Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School (hereinafter referred to as the School of Chemical Biology) and the College of Chemistry and Molecular Engineering at Peking University (hereinafter referred to as the College of Chemistry) will jointly organize the "2025 National Outstanding University Student Summer Camp" from July 4 to 6, 2025, at the Yan Campus of Peking University. All selected participants are required to attend the entire summer camp. If there are special circumstances, a written application must be submitted.

This event will cover all majors of the School of Chemical Biology and the College of Chemistry, including:

School of Chemical Biology Majors:

Chemistry (Chemical Genomics)

Research Directions: Chemical Biology, Synthetic Chemistry, Translational Biology, Computational Chemistry, Modern Biotechnology, Translational Medicine

College of Chemistry Majors:

Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry and Physics, Chemical Biology, Applied Chemistry, Theoretical and Computational Chemistry

Applications are now officially open.

I. Event Content

1. Introduce the overall situation of the College of Chemistry and the School of Chemical Biology at Peking University, including the history, current status, and development trends of various disciplines. Poster presentations will be held by research groups, with opportunities for interaction and exchange with participants.

2. Participants will visit laboratories and engage in discussions and exchanges with current undergraduate and graduate students.

3. The selection of outstanding participants will include comprehensive chemistry knowledge tests and participant presentations. Specific details will be announced later.

II. Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Current undergraduate students graduating in 2026 from universities across the country.

2. A strong interest in chemistry or related interdisciplinary fields (materials, physics, biology, informatics, medicine, etc.).

3. Rank in the top 20% of their grade in the first two and a half years of undergraduate studies (exceptions may be made for outstanding performance in other areas), with passing grades in all required courses.

4. Good English proficiency.

5. Students who have withdrawn from the "Strong Foundation Program" at Peking University or similar programs at other universities (including withdrawals) are not eligible to apply.

III. Online Application

Applicants must complete the online application by 24:00 on June 1, 2025, via the following link. Please note that all information in the hard copy application materials must be consistent with the online application; otherwise, the application may be affected. If certain information is not yet confirmed, please prepare the hard copy materials before filling out the online application.

IV. Preparation of Hard Copy Materials

Application materials must include the following four categories (all materials must be printed or photocopied on A4 paper, double-sided. The first and last pages must use the provided "Cover" and "Declaration" respectively, without adding additional covers or packaging. All other materials should be scanned into a single PDF in the order of 1 to 4):

1. Application form and personal statement (the section for academic ranking on the application form must be stamped with the official seal of the academic affairs office of the college. If no academic affairs seal is available, a separate academic ranking document stamped with the college seal must be attached).

2. Official transcript including all courses taken (signed by the responsible person and stamped with the academic affairs seal of the department).

3. Copies of English proficiency certificates (e.g., CET-4/6, TOEFL, GRE, IELTS).

4. Other supporting materials (e.g., copies of the first page of representative academic papers, copies of awards and certificates. Failure to provide copies of relevant materials will render them invalid).

V. Submission of Scanned Hard Copy Materials

After preparing the hard copy materials (including signed and stamped sections), applicants must submit the materials online as required by the application system.

Materials must be submittedby 24:00 on June 1, 2025. Each applicant may submit only once. Additionally, original hard copy materials must be brought and submitted during check-in at the summer camp.Note: The scanned copies and the original hard copy materials submitted at check-in must be completely consistent; otherwise, eligibility for the summer camp will be revoked.

VI. Submission of Expert Recommendation Letters

Each applicant must submit two expert recommendation letters. The experts must hold the title of associate professor (or above) or equivalent professional technical titles in the relevant field. During the online application, the system will require the email addresses of two recommending experts. After confirmation, the system will automatically send an email to the experts with a link to upload the recommendation letters. Applicants must promptly contact the two recommending experts to ensure the recommendation letters are submitted via the link sent by the systemby 24:00 on June 1, 2025.

Notes:

1.Recommendation letter title: Recommendation Letter - University - Applicant's Name

2.Format: PDF. The recommendation letter template must be filled out directly. The recommending expert may not sign it, but the email must be sent from the expert's own email address.

3.Original recommendation letters are not required to be submitted during check-in.

VII. Material Review and Summer Camp Qualification Determination

This summer camp is jointly organized by the College of Chemistry and the School of Chemical Biology. Both parties will jointly conduct the initial review of application materials, organize presentations, and conduct interviews. The final results will be determined based on participant performance and the decisions of the joint expert committee.
